Working Out In a Tiny Space: It Can Be Done!
Now, more than ever, we all need to stay active. Not only does working out keep us in shape, but it also keeps us feeling positive and mentally sharp. It helps us to keep depression and anxiety at bay and improves our confidence and self-esteem. It is an essential tool in helping us to combat the stress we’re all feeling under the current circumstances, and improve our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. Gyms have reopened in much of the country. But whatever measures have been put in place to keep gym patrons safe, it’s understandable that you may not feel comfortable with the idea of rejoining the gym just yet. Especially when you think of all those unmasked weightlifters exhaling sharply as they power through their workouts.
Still, you may also assume that the size of your living space precludes you from working out effectively at home. But you don’t need a fully-fledged home gym to work out at home. Here are some space-saving solutions that can help you get a full-body workout even in the tiniest living space…
Adjustable dumbbells
Dumbells are an invaluable tool for all kinds of exercises from bicep curls to bent over rows and squats. You want to be able to challenge various muscle groups with lots of dumbbells fo different weights. But the last thing you need is for a row of dumbbells to dominate your living room. Fortunately, there is a better way! Check out these adjustable dumbbell reviews. Small plates within the dumbbell can be added or removed to give you the perfect amount of resistance for each exercise.
Resistance bands
The key to great home workouts is choosing equipment that is small and discreet yet allows you to carry out a huge array of exercises. With this in mind, there’s much to recommend a good set of resistance bands. These handy rubber bands fold up neatly and sit in a drawer when not in use. But when you break them out, they can help you to carry out all kinds of exercises from squats to rows to bicep and tricep curls and even leg presses. Whether you’re trying to build muscle or simply improve tone, resistance bands are a discreet and space-saving way to help you achieve your goals.
Pull up bars
Pulls ups are the mother of all back exercise, and a great way to engage your lats while also helping to strengthen your core. Change the positioning of your hands and they can also be a fantastic bicep exercise. Simply set up a pull-up bar in your door frame and you can introduce yourself to a wealth of great exercises that will set you on a fast track to achieving your fitness goals. Having trouble getting the full extension on our pull-ups? No problem. Loop your resistance bands around the bar so that they help to support your weight. Use incrementally smaller bars as you grow stronger.
With these three very modest investments, you can get a full-body workout from the comfort of your own home. No matter how modestly sized it may be.
