How You Approach Aging is Mental and Physical

How you approach the silver years will largely be determined by lifestyle practices as well as your mindset. According to recent research life expectancy on average is now the age of 78 years old, according to the CDC.

But is that set in stone?  Who says you can’t determine how your clock ticks?

As you age it is very important to keep yourself healthy both physically and mentally.  Getting older doesn’t have to mean negative changes, it can be positive, and being proactive will ensure you continue to stay fit, strong, and happy as you grow older.

Below are a few tips to help you improve your health starting today!

Strong Bones: Bone density is extremely important, largely because when bones become brittle with age you are more prone to injury. Grabbing your weights during exercise can help develop strong bones and muscles.  Try adding ankle weights when to strengthen those bones!

Heart Health: Treat your heart right before there is a problem eating a well-balanced diet with plenty of fruit, vegetables and fiber will definitely help to improve your heart health.

Brain Power: The brain can lose its ability to retain or process information.  Challenge your noggin with puzzles, listening to new music, and regular exercise.

Social Interaction: Meeting friends and family is great for emotional health.  Having a higher social interaction can improve your mood and will also help with your brain function too.

Health Check-ups: Always keep this a top priority, taking the time to have regular check-ups with your physician will also ensure you are in good health.  This means with your doctor, optician, and other specialist providers such as getting your hearing checked especially if you have had sudden hearing loss.  This helps treat any problems before they get out of hand.
