What Fitness New Year Resolutions Will You Set And How To Not Lose Hope
Contributing post
We are rapidly approaching the end of another year, and with that comes the thoughts centered around your plans for the new year ahead. Many people set goals or resolutions for the new year and a lot of them can be a health and fitness-related. But, what sort of resolutions do you have in mind? And better still, how do you keep them and not lose focus or hope? With that in mind, here are a few things to think about.
Personal journey
Whatever resolution you embark on when it comes to a fitness journey, the main point to remember when you are thinking about it is that this is a personal journey to you, and so it needs to be measurable and appropriate. Your friends and colleagues may have plans to do something similar or embark on another goal to do with fitness, but mirroring their choices may not be as good for you. Make sure it is a personal journey, it will be one of the biggest invectives to stick with it in the new year.
Join groups or try something new
Another thing to think about would be to try out fitness groups or classes as a great way to encourage you to stick with your goals. You may have set yourself a specific resolution, which could be something like attending a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, attending a dance class like ballet, or even just joking a local class for fitness such as Zumba or Aerobics. This can be a great way to make fitness goals more achievable and fun, and can also double up as a social opportunity.
Make sure the change is the whole package
It is all well and good having goals to increase fitness or to achieve certain things within this area, but you also need to ensure that you consider the whole package. Being able to run well is great, but if your diet is filled with junk and sugar you may not see as many benefits from it. The same can be said for your thoughts and feelings, and how your mindset can control how you think and feel. Make sure the change is the whole package.
Set realistic goals
It is also important for you to set yourself realistic goals. If your focus is purely on the end goal, then it can seem achievable at the beginning stages, especially when things are tough. Having the big goal, but then setting realistic targets along the way can help you measure success and keep yourself motivated to achieve that end goal.
Don’t be afraid to dream big
On the subject of the main goal, don’t be afraid to dream big. You may want to do a marathon, embark on some fitness challenge, for example, and while they may seem so far away, setting realistic goals we mentioned earlier can help you on your way. Dream big.
Let’s hope these tips help you to figure out your fitness new year resolutions and also offered up some advice to help you keep on track.
