While the world has been turned upside down and we are all stuck at home trying to stay safe, living with a long-term illness has become even more difficult than ever before. Whether you suffer from a respiratory issue such as asthma or something more serious such as cancer, living in isolation can be difficult to deal with.

That’s why today we want to take a look at some helpful tips that you should think of when alone and suffering from illness in quarantine.

Stay busy

One of the best things you can do for yourself when alone is to keep yourself busy. Whether this is doing home workouts, decorating, cooking, managing finances, or even looking for a mesothelioma claim attorney for your long term illness: any activity you can do is great.

Join an online group

No matter how alone you might feel right now suffering from an illness it is important to remember that there are other people who are also suffering. There are plenty of groups online such as Facebook groups and blogs that will allow you to connect with those who understand what you are going through. Make sure to connect and you will feel much better.

Join a virtual zoo tour

Many zoos, aquariums, and museums are currently offering free tours online of their displays, and for someone living alone during isolation, this is a great opportunity to be involved in something and feel connected to the outside world. Take a look at local zoos and museums or even look further afield, for example, Chester Zoo has virtual tours throughout the week and they can be a great chance to get to know different animals!

Practice self-care

Sometimes what you need when you are suffering from an illness is some TLC. Take the time during isolation to create a pamper routine for yourself and make yourself feel healthier and happier. For example, you could apply a face mask and hair mask, take a bath with a bath bomb, have a glass of wine, and even give yourself a beautiful manicure to make yourself feel great.

Exercise

Even if you have issues with joints and muscles due to chronic illness, some exercise is good for you every day. Take the time to surf YouTube and find videos that give you different workouts and exercises to try. It will keep the body active, help to release happy hormones, and it will make you feel fitter and healthier overall.

Organize a family call

Staying in touch with family or friends is important during the lockdown and one thing you can do is organize a zoom or Skype call with your loved ones once a week. You can even make things more fun and create a quiz for everyone to try! It can be a good way to stay in touch and have some fun while you are stuck at home.

We hope you all stay safe and happy during this unprecedented period and use our tips to enhance your time at home.
