NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

PRP: Yes, I grew up watching my mother workout. Come rain or shine, she made sure to get her workout in every single day. It’s amazing how an observed habit can have such a profound effect on a child. This is why I encourage my clients to bring their children with them to their Pilates session in the studio and also get them involved so that they can understand the importance of moving the body. Over the years,  fitness has become an automatic habit, like brushing your teeth, it's not something that I think twice about, I just do it.

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

PRP: Gourmet Protein Shakes!!! All of the gourmet protein shakes within my ebook, The Omega Method #5 Gourmet Protein Shakes, (there are over 50 recipes) are designed to keep the stomach flatter and your wallet flatter. I really wanted to create great tasting protein shakes for everyone to enjoy, including individuals with food allergies and diabetes. I had men, women, and children of all ages and backgrounds sample the recipes prior to releasing the book to see if they could tell that they were consuming a protein shake, and they couldn't believe the flavor!

NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

PRP: I have to say "no" a lot, which took a long time to understand and execute, and it came with a great cost. As a studio owner/Pilates/TRX/Barre/Garuda and the Omega Method Instructor coupled with a full time corporate job at Bank of America, and as a author and soon-to-be blogger, I have to stay organized and disciplined, and I have carve out time for myself with all of the different hats that I wear. This is my responsibility and mine alone. No one is responsible for telling me when I need to apply the brake in my life. It's really important to have one evening where I come home and workout and not conduct any business, and have one weekend day where I enjoy my life as well. It's really challenging as a business owner to tell a client that you cannot teach them on your "me- time" night, but you absolutely need to have that down time. I also have learned that if I take a vacation every six weeks, even if it's for 48 hours, and shut down the social media for a few days a month, I am completely recharged and never have to worry about burn-out. -But it really begins with discipline, organization, and honestly holding yourself accountable, if you can do all of the above in this fast-paced world we live in today, you'll be successful in every aspect of your life.

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

PRP: My body hasn't changed much since I began Pilates in 2000. Through Pilates, I was able to maintain a long, lithe, but strong physique. I have literally managed to stay the same dress size for 14 years, with the help of eating healthy and staying away from alcohol. I love all types of exercise though. I rollerblade, run, dance, jump on the trampoline, cycle, play volleyball, I love yoga, TRX, aerial arts, belly dancing  and of course Pilates. It's important to mix up your workouts to keep your muscles guessing and to keep the activities exciting and fresh, because boredom leads to drop out, and you need to make that commitment to show up for yourself every day.
