Awesome Ideas For Exercising Outdoors!
Contributing post
Exercise is hard work but so rewarding, and when you can get outdoors and enjoy the outside while you work out it’s even better. If you love being active and can’t wait for the warmer weather to roll back around, here are some ideas for exercise outdoors once the weather is warm enough.
Hiking
What better way to get some exercise, some fresh air and to see incredible views than go hiking? You can go rambling with a group, with a friend or partner, you could take your dog or go alone. You could really challenge yourself by walking mountain routes, adding any kind of steep areas will allow you to push yourself and the sights from the top will make it all worth it.
Bike rides
Another way to tackle those mountain routes would be to take your bike, it’s a totally different challenge compared with walking and will force you to use completely different muscles. Like hiking, it’s excellent cardiovascular exercise and if you like a bit of an adrenaline rush, going downhill on the way back can be super exciting! Another way you can exercise outdoors with your bike is to take routes along cycle paths and roads. If you are going to be biking on roads, just ensure you keep your wits about you and you’re not breaking the law. You need to be wearing a helmet, and if you’re biking at night then you’ll need to fit a light so you can be seen. It’s a good idea to wear a high vis vest as well. Any injury lawyer will tell you how many accidents happen on the roads when it comes to cyclists to it’s crucial to take your safety really seriously.
Swimming in the sea
There are lots of benefits to swimming in the sea, from improving your skin to relieving stress. But from a pure exercise perspective, it’s a great way to use your muscles and since the waves will be flowing it adds an extra challenge too. Again, be careful here- swim in designated areas and don’t go out to the beach to swim alone. Don’t attempt sea swimming unless you’re a strong swimmer. Wear a wetsuit and don’t go too far from the shore.
Sports
Most parks have tennis courts, basketball courts, and badminton courts, why not rope in some friends and play a game? This kind of activity is great as you’re so busy having fun you won’t even be thinking about the benefits of the exercise. You could play football, rounders in the park, golf… there are loads of options. Why not try something new this spring and summer? You might find something you really enjoy and that you’re good at too.
