Guest Blog Post: The Best Natural Beauty Products
When I first turned 30, I decided to take better care of my face and body. I had a pretty good beauty routine, but not appropriate for a new 30 something. At thirty, your skincare goals change from simple to caring about wearing sunblock to using anti-aging serums at night. Although, if you ask my mom, she would tell you that you should start anti-aging before your 30s, but that’s a story for another day.
I started researching as much as I could about all kinds of beauty products from normal to fancy and natural products. I learned what works (and what doesn’t) and eventually became a total beauty junkie
Because I have combination skin and curly hair, I’m a big fan of natural beauty products. Before trying out these type of products --the ones I rounded up for you in this post-- my skin was starting to look like puberty hit again and my curls were drying out. By adding just a few natural beauty products to my normal beauty routine my hair and skin look much better. Here are my top all-natural beautifiers that give major results.
Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser - I really like Neutrogena’s natural cleanser. Not only does it smell fruity, but it removes dirt and oil, and leaves my skin feeling soft and super clean. Add this cleanser to your routine, if you are blemish-prone like me or get monthly pimples.
DevaCurl Shampoo & Conditioner - I switched to this brand when I started my natural hair journey a few years ago and have never looked back. My curls look amazing, frizz-free, shiny and are very manageable.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil - This multipurpose oil is great for hydrating skin, hair, and lips. I use it to moisturize my split ends, flaky lips or when my feet and elbows get really dry.
Neutrogena Sensitive Skin Sunscreen - I use this everyday before walking my dog and my daily outdoors work out. My only problem is that is really heavy, so it needs to be rubbed in thoroughly. I still like that is water and sweat-resistant with a high SPF.
Tarte Amazonian Clay BB Tinted Moisturizer - This is one of my favorite tinted moisturizers! It blends well and gives me excellent sheer coverage.
SheaMoisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie - A few months ago, I started using this styling cream for curly hair and I absolutely love it. Just a dab is enough to revive dry hair. If you use it with wet hair before styling, every texture turns out super soft and moisturized.
Burt's Bees Lip Crayon - This balm feels smooth, but it also hydrates my lips. It comes in different pink and red shades. I love that the color lasts all day.
Alba Very Emollient Body Lotion - When my skin gets really dry or itchy, this is my go-to body lotion. It doesn’t hurt that it smells fantastic like sugar and flowers.
BareMinerals Ready Eyeshadow - I have a few of these in different color palettes. I love that these eyeshadows are super soft and don’t smudge.
