The Best Healthy Skincare Routine for Someone with a Busy Lifestyle
Guest blog post: Mariana Cortez
It’s not always easy to keep up with today’s fast-paced lifestyle. Understandably, you’d tend to neglect a few aspects of your life when you’re not meeting your ideal work-life balance. However, if you want to maintain your healthy skin, one thing you should never disregard—no matter how crazy life gets—is your skincare routine.
Whether you’re a student cramming to finish your dissertation or a working mother of two who must stay up late often, there is a skincare routine that works around your schedule and is also guaranteed to work its magic into your skin, too. Here are a few ways to achieve that.
Cleansing
Washing your face before going to bed is vital especially if you wear makeup during the day. Unfortunately, busy people often forego this step; perhaps they’re too tired or sleepy to remember, even though it only takes five minutes to clean your face.
If you’re too dead-beat even to get up, you can keep some cleansing wipes next to your bed so you can just reach for it if needed. But, as much as possible, do your basic cleansing routine every night. You don’t want to wake up the next day with pesky zits.
Toning
Using a toner helps boost your skin’s hydration and remove excess oil and dirt. If you’re short on time, opt to spray your toner instead of using cotton and rubbing it on your face. You can transfer the liquid into a small spritz bottle so you can also take it with you anywhere. Spraying the toner is also ideal in the morning to cut your makeup routine time significantly.
If you have acne-prone or combination skin, a witch hazel toner is perfect for you. Meanwhile, dry or sensitive skin can benefit greatly from rose water.
Multitasking Products
To make your skincare procedure more productive, you can opt for products that offer multiple benefits. For instance, a creamy or milky cleanser can both be cleansing and moisturizing for those suffering from dry skin, so they can skip the moisturizer in the morning if they’re on the move.
You can also use moisturizers that can double as a sunscreen, though you may want to look for something that has at least an SPF 30.
Additional Tips for the Busy You
Apart from these, you can incorporate a few more suggestions to maintain healthy skin despite your busy schedule.
Stay away from junk food and add more fruits vegetables in your diet to boost your antioxidant and nutrition levels.
Water is life. It washes away toxins not only from the outside but also internally. Increase your water intake and keep your skin hydrated.
Get a good night’s sleep, which means at least 7–8 hours.
Don’t forget about your lips! Bring a lip balm at all times, especially if your workplace or home has an AC.
Contrary to what you believe, you have time to hydrate, exfoliate, soothe, or treat blemishes with face masks. You can leave them on while you power nap (provided you don’t move around too much), put it on before stepping in the shower and washing it away as you bathe, or even while working or doing your chores. This also works for face packs.
Fuss-free Skin Care
Everyone wants to maintain their skin’s healthy glow. But, many—especially working women—feel that such is impossible because they don’t have the time to go to a spa, personal aesthetician, or dermatologist.
However, these tips prove that even a simple morning skincare routine can achieve great results. Follow a practice that works around your busy life, so you don’t have to sacrifice your healthy skin just to succeed in your long-term goals.
