Do you work in an office? If you do, chances are you will have worried about how inactive you may be from time-to-time. Working in an office is not really known as the type of environment where you get to burn off a lot of calories, in fact, it can be rather sedentary.

The problem with leading and inactive life is that you will be more likely to develop health problems such as heart disease, obesity, or diabetes. But you may wonder how you can improve your health without changing your career.

In this article, we’ll look at how you take better care of your health while working in an office.

Snacking In the Office

When you’re sat at your desk for hours on end, it can be very easy to fall into bad habits when it comes to snacking. Eating unhealthy sweets, crisps, and junk food when sat at your desk may help you to get through the day, but it will cause you health problems if you continue with this type of behavior for a long period of time.

Instead of eating unhealthy snacks at your desk, you should look at this list of healthy office snacks. Eating fruit and nuts while you are working will ultimately be far better for you, and leave you feeling fuller and more satisfied.

Stand Up While You Work

If you sit down for most of your day, you will probably find that you are likely to develop back problems and other aches and pains throughout your body. Instead of sitting down at your desk, why not see if you can get a standing desk. A standing desk will allow you to move around and stretch your body while you are working at your computer.

Take Regular Breaks Away From the Screen

Looking at computer screens all day is not good for your eyesight. Not only will you strain your eyes, but this could cause you headaches and it could damage your eyes.

Make sure that you are planning regular breaks away from your computer screen. If you have been prescribed glasses for wearing when using a computer, then make sure that you wear these. You should also get your eyes tested every two years by an optician.

Have a Three Minute Workout

Take regular three-minute bursts of exercise. This will speed up your metabolism and it will also give you plenty of energy. Exercise is also an excellent stress buster. If you are someone that experiences stress in your working life, then exercising may help you. Think about doing exercises that can be done anywhere such as pushups, squats, and Jumping Jacks.

The great thing about exercising in short bursts like this is that you’ll not get sweaty so you can still attend all of your daily meetings.
