Start Your Day With Some Yoga!

How do you start your morning?  Does it include a workout?  Stretches?  Perhaps yoga? Centering your mind and body is an excellent way to start the day, try one of the beginner morning yoga moves below to get your day started off right!  By the way all each move can be performed right in bed, so no excuses!

Cat Pose: This move can be performed right in bed so you definitely have no excuses.  Cat pose is an excellent morning stretch for the back, opening up the spine and massaging organs within the stomach.  While on all fours keeping your knees directly beneath the hips and head in neutral position look up towards the ceiling while inhaling drop you back down towards the bed or floor. Immediately gazing towards your bellybutton arch your back up like a cat exhale.  Repeat for at least 1-2 mins.

Seated Twist: This move has been said to cleanse and refresh the body with the help of twisting action.  Sit upright in bed with your legs straight out in front of you, bend both knees with your feet on the bed.  Put one leg under the other with one knee pointed up towards the ceiling. Take the opposite elbow to the outside of the knee while using the your other hand to stabilizer your body on the bed.  Twist as far back as you can make sure to keep your butt on the bed, hold this position for one minute.

Bridge Pose: While on your back in bed bend your knees directly over your heels. Placing your arms at your sides with your palms facing down take a deep exhale and bring your hips off the bed.  Clasp your hands behind you under your lower back while pressing your arms down. Try to lift your hips until your thighs are parallel to the floor or bed, bring your chest to your chin and hold this position for one minute.
