NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

NJ: I have always been active and interested in fitness and I was a certified trainer and nutritionist as a hobby for years... BUT , it wasn't until I hit rock bottom in my personal life, gained a lot of weight and financially lost my way that I used fitness to bring me back. When fitness transformed my life, I started to teach others how to have it help them in their life.

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

NJ: I am not one to keep foods "off limits" but I DO typically stick to foods that once grew. If it is natural and unprocessed I eat it! I am a huge fan of fruits, veggies, proteins, seeds, and nuts. I make a great chia seed pudding which is basically chia seeds and coconut milk. When I add a touch of maple syrup (just a touch!) It is an amazing guilt free treat.

NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

NJ: I believe that one must know their "why" before they can make fitness and health a priority. My staying on top of my priorities in life and revisiting my "why" or rather the REAL reason I WANT to be healthy, strong and fit, THAT keeps me motivated and on track with my fitness. I want to be physically and mentally able to keep up with my 6 year old. She is a major "why" of mine.

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

NJ: I am a fan of consistently progressing to keep you body in it's best shape. Without progression, we stop changing. When you stop progressing, things get easier for us and our muscles don't have to work as hard and our fitness starts to deteriorate. I use primarily body weight training (pull ups, chin ups, plank based moves, box jumps, and pushups) Those types of exercises are great to progress with because you can challenge yourself by being able to do more and go longer.
