Fitness Files: Lauryn Evarts
I stumbled upon The Skinny Confidential aka Lauryn Evarts several years ago and I have been glued to her blog ever since. In addition to being a Pilates instructor Evarts is also a model, photographer and blogger! Take a look at Lauryn's Fitness Files interview below to learn more about her love and passion for living a healthy lifestyle.
NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?
LE: Yes! But!! I became really into it when I was nineteen years old. My god-mom got me into to spin and I never looked back. My whole fitness and health journey can be found here: http://theskinnyconfidential.com/2012/08/15/my-fitnesshealth-story/
At this point, it's like brushing my teeth- I just do it. I love working out daily. Hiking, Pilates, yoga, running, swimming, walking, and barre classes are my favorites!
NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?
LE: I love avocado on sprouted toast with lemon and chili flakes. I also love quinoa with hummus, pomegranate seeds, and a little sliced avocado. My favorite snack ever though? Fresh pressed juice. I'm always on the go so chugging a juice is satisfying and hits my blood stream immediately which is a great pick me up!
NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?
LE: Love your motto! I wake up every morning with the intention to move my body. I try to break a sweat once a day. Moving my body makes my mind feel better and I look better so it's easy for me to motivate myself to get the hell off the couch!
I am also motivated by the Victoria's Secret fashion show, because, I mean- come on?! Who isn't? LOL. It's a great kick in the ass once a year.
NMF: How do you change your body? What are your fitness favorites?
LE: I change my body through diet. Cutting alcohol for a while works wonders. Also, dairy and soy don't do well with my body. The second I cut them out, I feel better.
I also stay away from meat- I don't like it. For some reason meat's toxins make me feel bloated.
I eat a lot of veggies, fruits, smoothies, juices, & eggs.
Exercise obviously helps too!
My two favorite fitness choices are Pilates and strength training. I notice SUCH a difference in my posture, abs, & legs. I try to practice each at least twice a week. Currently I'm trying to get into yoga...wish me luck! LOL.
