NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?
CM: I have always played sports and worked out growing up. My dad told me to find my passion and that you will figure out how to make money doing it! I personal trained and taught fitness classes in college while I studied Corporate and Community Fitness/Nutrition. Through college I gained a dredded 40 pounds just being a typical college student and not practicing what I was preaching! When I moved to San Diego after college I got slapped in the face being in the meca of health and fitness and got my act together! I lost the weight and decided I wanted to help others reach their fitness goals as well! I started my own fitness and nutrition counseling business called Ultrafit Nutrition Systems, created an in home food business, stared in tons of fitness videos, infomercials, wrote 2 fitness books, a cookbook and worked for the Style Network on many fitness shows. I am currently the fitness expert for Good Morning San Diego which I love! Fitness is my passion and I live it everyday!
NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?
CM: I love Greek yogurt, almonds, Iso Pure protein drinks, Fitzee Foods bars, hard boiled egg whites and cut up cold veggies! I drink TONS of water and take an essential oil every day called Ultra-Omega Oil! Its amazing! No sugar cravings, boosts immune system and regulates digestion and hormones! Its the best!
NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?
I have been through a few tough times in my life that I believe have made me mentally tough. Being overweight and feeling bad about myself was tough but the feeling of reaching your weight loss goals and keeping them off is total motivation to stay fit and healthy! I lost my first husband tragically and my daughters were 5 and 8 at the time. That is the day that I realized It was just me and I had to be the best I could be for them! I have always told the girls that we will never be victims, always learn from tragedy and mistakes and become better because of it. Now I am remarried to an amazing man and we have a 2 year old boy! I want to be a good role model for my kids and my clients! That keeps me motivated and sane!
NMF: How do you change your body? What are your fitness favorites?
CM: I love to change things up! My main workouts are interval training workouts, like my new dvds series UFIT, but I also teach cardio muscle classes, fast walk with friends, run stairs and jump rope! Change is good! Your body will see results because of it!
