Fitness Files: Caroline Chabert Graeff Founder of Deckopedia
Deckopedia Founder and creator Caroline Chabert Graeff created Deckopedia to make living a healthy and balanced life a lot easier. She is a former world-class snowboarding athlete turned entrepreneur. Her passion for sports—surfing, yoga, tennis and being a snowboarding athlete—is equally matched by her love for reading, good eats, and self-improvement. As a busy mom she knows how precious time can be, she created Deckopedia as an on-the-go source to educate, engage and entertain anyone with an insatiable curiosity. Continue reading my interview with Caroline to learn more about the creator and her love of health and fitness.
NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?
Caroline Chabert Graeff (CCG): Sports have always been part of my life, and when I stopped competing, being active became my No. 1 passion as a lifestyle. I don’t necessarily do it for weight purposes, but more to keep a healthy mind and for the adrenaline rush it brings me.
NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?
CCG: I love green juices with ginger for any post-workout treat. Honestly, I rarely snack. It is not very popular in the French culture I grew up in. If I really crave something, I will go for an apple or even a couple squares of 90-percent cacao dark chocolate.
NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?
CCG: I believe anybody can change their body to the best possible by combining three elements: nutrition, sports/fitness, and mindfulness.
You read all these articles about different weight loss programs, and they may work for some people, I think we all have different metabolisms and ways our bodies process food. There is no one diet solution to weight loss. Instead, I believe the real diet solution is unique for each individual. Nutritionists can help people figure out what food combination works best for them.
Fitness and sports not only give the beautiful athletic look to our bodies, but they also give our bodies energy and stature.
As far as mindfulness goes, I believe that being mindful about the way we treat our bodies, the food we eat and simply the way we are is key to changing our bodies, and even the perception we have about our bodies.
NMF: How do you change your body? What are your fitness favorites?
CCG: Being in California, I “feed” myself with lots of outdoor activities: surfing, golfing, mountain biking, walking, and tennis (whenever time allows it!). When I’m traveling, my fitness favorites are yoga, running in the park, core work, and hip-opening exercises.
