I really enjoyed interviewing Bonnie, we share many of the same health and fitness tips and I learned a thing or two that I am excited to test out myself.  I am a strong believer in surrounding yourself with like mined people, clearly this powerhouse is all about training your mind and body! NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

BB: Sports has always been a part of my life! I started doing acrobatics and dance at age four, soccer at 5 years old, gymnastics at age 7 and competed all the way through college. I also did track and field in high school (hurdles, javelin, shotput and yes all 5'4-1/2 of me throwing shot.  It was awesome. There's something to be said for the adage "You can take the girl out of gymnastics, but you can't take gymnastics out of the girl'.  So even since retirement, I've remained pretty fit, either by working out in the gym, doing yoga or being active outdoors.

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

BB: Water, water, water! Outside of a glass of wine with dinner, that's pretty much all I drink, knowing how important it is to be hydrated. I never go anywhere without healthy snacks. The go-to is a bag of raw natural almonds with reduced-sugar dried cranberries sprinkled in.  I'll always have a green apple in my bag and one of those little Smuckers portable peanut butter packs.  The fiber in the apple combine with a glass of water holds me over for a bit.   When I'm flying I'll bring a packet of plain oatmeal with me and small bag of blueberries or black berries.  I dump everything in a coffee cup with some almonds and ask the flight attendant to fill it up with hot water and voila! Healthy (and free!) breakfast.

NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

BB: I'm constantly goal-setting, lots of lists, short-term lists, long-term lists that I look at daily. I'm one of those people where, if I'm not growing in some capacity, personally or professionally on a daily basis I feel unfulfilled.  So that mindset always keeps me moving. That said, I've learned over the years that sleep is so important.  I am an 8-hour-a-night girl.  I can go on less, but doing that consecutive days affects my thinking, my mood and my on-camera performance.  You can be the most ambitious person in the world; but the bottom line is everyone's mind and body needs time to recharge.

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

BB: I love resistance bands! I've had lots of compliments over the year about the definition in my arms.  The exercises I do with the bands have been key to that. The best part? A band easily fits in your suitcase, you can just  slip one end under the door of  your hotel room and get some good work done.  Both upper and lower body.
