Bizzie Gold is a Celebrity Trainer, Wellness Expert, Founder of Buti and mother of two!  In this Fitness Files feature Bizzie shares how fitness has always been apart of  her life and how she continues to challenge her body everyday.

NM: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

BG: I have been a competitive athlete my whole life so in a sense fitness has always played an integral role.  To succeed in competitive skiing, a significant amount of time needs to be spent cross-training, running and lifting to keep up with your peers. My dad built me a gym downstairs at age 10 to help me achieve my goals. (PS I don't recommend that!)  It wasn't until I injured myself at age 19 that fitness began to play a role in my life as a recreational and wellness tool. So for me, age 19 really sticks out as the year that I knew my new found yoga practice would become something involved in my career path forever.

NM: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

BG: I am a big supporter of what I call the "Wake & Shake." Every morning within 30 minutes of waking, I drink a protein shake with Vega Sport Performance Protein (Chocolate) mixed with 1 cup raw coconut water and 1 cup filtered water. This helps me get my blood sugar into the optimal zone for the rest of the day, maximize energy and boost my metabolism. I don't usually eat anything after that until around 11am. When I need a snack, I usually go for sliced organic fruit, organic / free-range deli meat, avocados or seaweed.

At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask:

NM: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

BG: BUTI is a very mind-body based practice. I look forward to my BUTI practice all day long and often dream about it at night. It is the only type of workout that I do (I don't supplement with running, weights, etc). The practice itself pushes my body beyond any known limits both physically and mentally. I grow stronger, more confident, and more alive every time I practice. Even as an instructor it's amazing how the practice of BUTI can help you grow as person every time you teach. My workouts never get stagnant and I always stay mentally resilient.

NM: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

BG: The combination of BUTI and grain-free / dairy-free have changed my body entirely. I would NEVER look for anything else again.  It has helped me achieve my lowest body fat ever and in the healthiest way possible.  I don't restrict calories, I don't overtrain, I take as many rest days as I want. When doing CrossFit, Yoga and a few days of lifting, I struggled to get my body fat below 20%. After a year of BUTI only and grain-free/ dairy-free I was 8.6% and happier and healthier than ever before.

As for my fitness faves, I love Vega Sport Performance Protein, raw coconut water (Harmless Harvest is a great brand and company that I am happy to support), Manduka yoga mats, and Cuppow protein shaker lids.
