Wellness Detox Tips from Head to Toe/Inside Out

IMG_1742.JPG

I shared some of my detoxing tips below on Good Day Baltimore!  2018 is the year of self-care, creating a life worth living and being the best version of yourself.  At the beginning of every new year, many people focus on weight loss and hitting the gym. Although this is extremely important it’s not the only element that goes into creating a healthy well-being. I revealed simple ways to detox your lifestyle from head to toe/ inside out. Take a look below!

Beauty Regime

Almost 13,000 chemicals are used in women’s cosmetics that have been linked to a number of diseases and illnesses including cancer, infertility and birth defects just to name a few.

Do an inventory of your beauty products from face wash to nail polish and discard questionable products.

If you can’t do a full sweep start to gradually replace your products over time. Start by paying closer attention to products you use daily like deodorant, makeup, moisturizers and body washes.

Here are my top picks!

Weleda Natural Deodorant

Residual odor from naturally detoxified skin gets neutralized and purified with these effective, non-aerosol sprays.  With no risky antiperspirants such as aluminum salts, your body’s natural detoxification process is supported while bacteria that cause unpleasant odors are neutralized. Scents come in Citrus, Sage and Wild Rose.

Diet

Opt for a colorful diet as often as you can. No time? Invest in juicing and/or food delivery services that can get you on track and offer your serving of fruits and vegetables daily. Incorporating 100% cold-pressed and organic juice into your daily diet can benefit your overall mental and physical health. Living Juice juices are an easy way to add/increase fruits and vegetables into your diet, especially some fruits and veggies that may not be in your diet into your everyday.  These Living Juice green juices taste good, don't be scared of these green juices!

Beware of drinking water as well! Our water resources naturally become contaminated with nitrates, high levels of nitrates can be harmful especially for pregnant women and newborns. Finding sources of water that are nitrate free is suggested like Aqua Carpatica. You can also opt for getting your water tested to see if your local drinking water is contaminated.

Not a lover of water or perhaps you are trying to get yourself to drink more of it?  True Lemon is an excellent addition to your lifestyle habits.  Each packet is 100% lemon with no added sugars. They also have True Lime, True Citrus, True Grapefruit and much more!

You also want to avoid canned foods that aren’t BPA free, the lining of food cans have been linked to a number of problematic health issues. Storing your foods in steel cases and class storage containers are suggested, the hot and cold of plastic can leak into your food and get digested. Below are a few great options for storing your food:

Stay clear from inviting toxins into your lifestyle, arsenic is the common culprit with simple changes you can decrease your chances of developmental effects, cancer, diabetes, skin cancer and cardiovascular disease just to name a few. Foods that are often linked to arsenic exposure are rice, chicken and fruit juices. Swap these foods for whole grains, organic chicken and natural or frozen fruits.

Home

Many toxins in your home are hidden within everyday products you wouldn’t give a second thought about. The most prevalent offender is flame retardants found in carpet padding, furniture, and electronics.

Opt for non-toxic cleaning solutions, cleaning frequently is your best defense.

Glycol Ethers (linked to disrupting men’s hormones) are often encountered with dry cleaning services and personal care products/cleaners.  Skip the cleaners and opt for cleaning your clothes yourself with safe cleansers or DIY laundry detergent.

Here is a simple DIY home cleaning recipe that I am loving especially for cleaning my home and my son's toys!
