Staying Fit and Healthy in Mexico
So you are on vacation and the furtherest thing from your mind is hitting the gym, right? Well depending on where you are in your fitness journey this may or may not be the case. This is when you really need to tap in and continue the process of training your mind and body. Trust me a week away of bad eating and zero physical activity can do some serious damage.
The advantage of working out while on vacation is that you can switch up your routine in a lot of ways you may not be able to do at home. At Iberostar Hotels and Resorts there was endless amount of activities that included baskeball, beach volleyball, water volleyball, dancing lessons, zumba, step classes, beach olympics and yoga. Whether you are traveling with friends, a significant other or by yourself take advantage of your surroundings and reward yourself (in moderation) later!
Every morning before breakfast I hit the gym for 20-30 minutes, lucky for me I brought my resistance bands and jump rope (never travel without it) to keep my workouts quick and effective.
Now, what to eat is not the problem in most cases it's how much to eat! Morning, noon and night we had an endless buffet. This was some serious will power boot camp! There is always something healthy to eat you just have to weigh your options and get creative. My rule of thumb is to make sure I am always eating fruits or veggies with my meals. By loading up on the good stuff it leaves little room for the garbage!
Temptation was everywhere and I just walked on by! Let's face it you will be spending most of the day in a bikini, the calories aren't worth it! Having trouble saying no? Think of your go to mantra (don't have one? create one) and use that for extra motivation.
