NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

Erin Gregory (EG): I have always enjoyed an active lifestyle. As a child, I took every dance class offered in Kingsville and I was a world class roller-skater.  Once I reached middle school and high school, I traded my dance shoes for sneakers. I played volleyball and basketball and ran cross country and track. I even received a basketball scholarship!

During my freshman year of college, I lived with my older sister who made me keep her company by running with her daily. We trained for the San Antonio Marathon and numerous other “fun runs” together. I loved spending time with her. We kept each other motivated to stay active and I was a darn good cheerleader when the going got tough around mile 20! In addition to running, we joined Gold’s Gym together and started taking a 5 a.m. BODYPUMP class. After one class, we were hooked, even though we were exhausted and could barely get through work that day. From then on, I decided that group fitness was fun and found myself waking up bright and early to get my next fix!

Following that first class, I signed up for the BODYPUMP training to become a certified Les Mills instructor. Soon thereafter, I was hired to teach at Gold’s Gym. This was a turning point in my life. I was making a positive change in those who attended my class – I was changing the world one workout at a time. People who participate in group fitness classes are looking for not only a great workout but a friendly face, a smile and some motivation. My career with Gold’s Gym started when I became a BODYPUMP instructor and I have never looked back. Now, I am the National Group Fitness Director and it’s like a dream come true!

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

EG: I keep it fresh and mix it up! I try not to eat the same snacks all of the time so I don’t feel restricted. My snacks usually include:

  • Fresh Fruits and Veggies
  • Nuts
  • Bars
  • Tons of water!

NMF: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

EG: My mental strength and motivation come from my friends and colleagues at Gold’s Gym and Les Mills who share my vision and passion for group fitness. I take absolute joy in helping others reach their fitness goals. I love my job. I feel privileged to be able to share my passion for fitness with others every day all over the world.

I challenge myself to create new ways of exercising, new ways of motivating people and new ways to inspire others to get fit with me. No one pushes me harder than I push myself to be the best trainer and fitness leader I can be. This keeps my body in shape and my mind motivated.

NMF: How do you change your body?

EG: I challenge myself to create change.

NMF: What are your fitness favorites?

EG: Les Mills group fitness classes, GOLD’S CYCLE and GOLD’S FIT are my fitness favorites!
