NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

Kacy Duke (KD): Fitness has always been a part of my life. I grew up studying dance and running track and field, I loved them both! But it all came together for me in the fitness industry. There,  I could combine grace and athleticism to create a technique and philosophy that would build a healthy, lean and beautiful body through mindset, motivation and movement!

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

KD: I love Kombucha! It's a fermented drink that's tart with a little fizz. It's good for digestion and the immune system. I also drink lots of water.

NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask:   How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

KD: What keeps me motivated and the motto I live by is this: SHOW IT LOVE! CELEBRATE THE BODY YOU HAVE, AND GET THE BODY YOU WANT! And a great way to do just that is to remember:  MOVEMENT IS A PRIVILEGE! If you can move, you should! Show love and gratitude to your body by doing some physical movement as you chant to yourself or out load... "Movement is a privilege...I am...I can...I do!!!" Watch the magic that happens! You know one of the most magical moments lately was at NEXTPERT styleXtech what a wow! Leading that group of incredibly energized individuals in my new Sculpt & Groove workout was a truly memorable experience. So motivating to see these driven New Yorkers jump in, leave their stress behind and just really enjoy their workout. Plus I discovered LG's new Styler at styleXtech - the perfect post-workout pick me up for clothes

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

KD: As I mentioned above, to change your body, you have to draw on the mindset, motivation and the movement. When it comes to movement, to get results, you have to keep your muscles guessing and not let them get bored or too accustomed to a fixed routine. You have to change it up frequently with different moves, pushing your muscles in ways they’re not used to. You can’t do the same routine every time and get great results. You have to commit to being physically adventurous and surprising your body. Step outside your comfort zone frequently and try different classes or activates you don’t usually do.

As far as my favorite exercises go, I love being outside, doing a run or a power walk on The Highline, and I alternated that with in gym workouts, focusing on compound exercise that combine strength-training, cardio, and isometric moves.

Training minds, changing bodies!
