Fitness Files: Holistic Fitness Trainer Julie Rammal

Julie Rammal a Holistic Fitness trainer and the creator of the DVD IN LIGHT OF CHANGE.  The DVD is divided into eight chapters. After Julie gives an introduction where she describes her philosophy and her journey the workout begins. The first section, Tibetan Rituals concentrates on self- awareness, breathing techniques and anti-aging movements and meditation. Following the ancient rituals, there are three Cardio chapters: Cardio Stretch, Cardio Box, and Cardio Legs. Then, Julie adds in Total Abs, Upper Body, and Lower Body workouts. The DVD concludes with a Cool Down.

I love the idea of training holistically, it  means you naturally listen to body, mind and spirit and working with it rather than against it. To learn more about Julie and her technique.

NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

JR: I have always loved music, dance, sports and movement. I think every event in my life made me focus more and more on fitness. I have never felt so connected to something that is always there for you, it is free, it is effective and it can change your entire life while making you feel amazing.

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

JR: I love re-energizing with dates, dark chocolate, or a trailer mix of nuts. My favorite drink is anything is organic, natural and green!

NMF: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

JR: Once a former student of Joseph Pilates told me that you can only do your very best in fitness, there will always be someone stronger, younger and better- so just focus.

Ever since then I have really learnt to focus using the acquired skills that many fitness disciplines taught me over the years. My motivation comes from my joy to be in fitness- it is an unexplainable inner drive that really drives me around.

I always talk to myself and tell myself to never give up, I can keep going, and if I did it once I can do it again. I believe “There is no mountain high enough that I can’t climb.” I also believe, when you are connected to yourself, you become close to your mind and body, and are in a better position to keep your mind and body in control and motivated.

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

JR: I love tai chi, yoga, martial arts, dance, gymnastics and pilates because all of these sports make you stronger mentally and physically and honor the way our body is meant to move. You learn how to train the deepest part of every cell in your body and not just the physical layer. When you are so connected to the inside of yourself your body will change with the correct training methods.
