NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?

CC: I struggled with anorexia in my mid-teens – educating myself on fitness and nutrition was an instrumental part of my recovery. I moved away from the fads and myths spouted by popular media and immersed myself in journals and studies instead. The more I learnt, the more frustrated I became with all the widely-believed misinformation out there – especially for women – and made it my mission to help others avoid making the mistakes that I had.

NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?

CC: I have a mega sweet tooth so do lots of healthy high-protein baking to keep it in check! I also enjoy quality dark chocolate as a daily fixture and drink a lot of raw cacao with xylitol and coconut milk.

NMF: At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask: How do you train your mind and stay motivated?

CC: I set realistic, time-framed goals, break this down into manageable, weekly targets and don’t try to do everything at once. I suggest noting everything down and keep a written and photographic record of your progress – this helps to keep you accountable and motivated.

It’s also important to make it fun! I experiment with recipes, vary my workouts – there are so many different ways to get fit and healthy, so find the methods that YOU enjoy. It’s much easier to turn these into permanent lifestyle changes.

NMF: How do you change your body?  What are your fitness favorites?

CC: I love to lift! My workouts include combination of bodyweight training, power lifting, body building and most recently, Olympic style lifting, with a strong focus on compound, functional movements. This really has changed my body shape for the better over the years.
