Fitness Files: Billy Blanks
Happy New Year! The start of a new year is filled with endless possibilities, which is why in this weeks Fitness Files I wanted to showcase Billy Blanks! Blanks infamous Tae-Bo workouts helped get me on track when I first started my fitness journey. During his workouts he offers words of encouragement and inspiration which really helped to train my mind towards a healthier version of myself. Continue reading my interview below with THE Mr. Billy Blanks.
NMF: Has fitness always been a major part of your life or was there a catalyst/point in your life when you made it more of a focus and priority?
BB: Yes fitness has always been a major part of my life. It started at a young age watching my dad working out and having wights around. The catalyst really happened when I was 11 years old and I got involved in karate, that changed everything for me. This helped me and allowed me to help others.
NMF: What are a few of your go-to healthy snacks/drinks that help keep you on the straight and narrow?
BB: I eat a lot of fish, chicken, and salad, and I drink a lot of water and have wheat grass every morning. I don't consume too many supplements or heavy foods. Once in awhile I'll have a protein shake.
At Nadia Murdock Fit our motto is “Train Your Mind, Change Your Body” so we must ask:
NMF: How do you train your mind and stay motivated? I train my mind and will by taking on challenges. I constantly challenge myself and this allows me to stay motivated. I also enjoy reading the Bible and getting into the word.
NMF: How do you change your body? What are your fitness favorites?
BB: I like to mix it up with a few different techniques and always include resistant training. My fitness favorites are #1-Tae Bo®, #2- Tae Kwon Do, #3- Boxing, and #4- Weight Training.
