Beyond Barre: A True Cardio Infused Ballet Barre Workout
I am so excited to start teaching Beyond Barre this summer for the 8-week long Lean and Mean summer program that I am participating in. Barre workouts are such an excellent addition to a regular fitness regime and my clients are loving the new addition!
Beyond Barre is a challenging, fun workout focuses on proper form and body alignment to avoid strain and injury and produce optimum body-transforming results. Because there are modifications for each exercise, the program can be done by all fitness levels— from out-of-shape beginners and those slowed by stiff muscles to fit athletes and fitness enthusiasts.
In a recent interview Founder and Creator Colleen Ketchum shares how Beyond Barre is different from other Barre programs:

BeyondBarre kicks up the intensity of the typical barre exercise program with its unique one of a kind cardio series. We have combined small, precise muscle movements and isometric holds to sculpt, strengthen, and stretch the muscles with an exclusive cardio glide BeyondBarre GlideBoard to increase endurance, strengthen side-to-side muscles, and balance while melting away fat.
Another big separator from other barre programs is that with BeyondBarre we work in optimally aligned body positions. Close attention is paid to proper form in order to build muscle strength while remaining injury free. We have often been heard saying, “get the tuck out”. In other programs, there is an excessive amount of pelvis tucking and squeezing the glutes. This puts added pressure on the lumbar spine and can aggravate the lower back. We work with the pelvis and spine in a more neutrally aligned position to work as safely as possible.
